The Warrior V2 — A New Heart for Our Beloved Warrior

Our beloved Warrior is getting an upgrade! As we clear out our current stock of cases, we move on to the next chapter of the Warrior's journey — and this time, he will be carrying a different heart. (Don't worry, the transplant went smoothly and the patient is ticking better than ever.)

The Warrior V2 will be powered by your choice of the premium HK Precision Technology PT5000, the Sellita SW200-1, or the almighty ETA 2824-2. Additional movements from Soprod, the SW200-2, LJP, and others will join the lineup later on.

You might be wondering: why the change?

Two main reasons drove this decision.

1. The stability of our Supply Chain

   1. As many of you know, delivery of Warrior orders has been — let's be honest, still is — quite slow. While most orders ship within 30–45 days, some have unfortunately taken longer, and for that we sincerely apologize. We have also faced serious problems with the delivery of parts such as bracelets and dials. This got us thinking.

      
      

   2. The Miyota 9015 and 9039 automatic movements have become very difficult to source, and their prices have nearly doubled since we launched the Warrior — from about CNY 330 to almost CNY 600, and still climbing by the week. On top of that, some movement orders can take four to five months to arrive. This got us thinking even harder.

2. The flexibility and needs of customers

   1. For the movement selection, we could have gone with a Shanghai-made or Dandong-made 9015, but those movements are not stable enough, which would have meant frequent after-sales service — and we simply refuse to put "fake" Miyota movements in our watches. In our other models (the 5303 and X02), we have used the PT5000 alongside Swiss movements, and customer feedback has been excellent. This concept has now proven itself over almost three years.

      
      

      This week, we visited HK Precision Technology and came away genuinely impressed — by their manufacturing facility, their professionalism, and the quality of their machines and materials. The visit confirmed exactly what we were looking for: a partner who can reliably deliver the quality we demand. Our need for a stable supply chain just found its answer.

      
      

   2. Because the Warrior V2 uses the PT5000, SW200-1, and ETA 2824-2, everyone can pick the movement they prefer — with more options joining in the near future. Want a Warrior with a Swiss heart? No problem, we've got you. Want more power reserve? We've got you covered there too. An HAQ version will also be available. At IXDAO, we want to build the watch you want, rather than chase hypes.

      
      

      Building on the PT5000 base also allows us to develop the Warrior further to your needs, without compromising on quality. Thanks to the engineers at our new case factory, we were able to keep the Warrior's dimensions almost unchanged — still below 10 mm in thickness. As you can see, this decision was not driven by profit, but by the future of the brand: a stable supply chain and a watch tailored more closely to your wishes.

      
      

About the watch

The movement is not the only thing changing. With our new suppliers, we are able to raise the overall quality of the Warrior: more precise polishing, finer brushing, and an overall better feel in the hand. Take the crown as an example — the old factory's version is on the left, the new one on the right. The design has changed slightly, but the quality has clearly improved: cleaner lines, sharper definition. The same applies to every part of the watch case.

Why is the price not cheaper?

Of course, the pricing of the Warrior must be addressed. As mentioned above, our base calculation for the Miyota 9015 used a movement price of CNY 330.00, and the PT5000 comes in at almost the same figure. With these numbers, the cost price of a Warrior with the PT5000 is around CNY 1,300.00 (USD 191) it includes costs like parts, sampling, reserve for unforseen, assembly and so on. At a sales price of USD 369.00, that leaves about USD 178.00 — before transaction fees, lost or stolen shipments, shipping, taxes, development, warranty services, salaries, exchange fees and so on.

In the end, a little over USD 100.00 remains in profit, which we reinvest in new models and in R&D for parts such as the OTF buckle and rubber strap, as well as in purchasing movements or discounts for you. Doing these developments properly is costly and takes time. Contrary to popular belief, we are not swimming in a vault of gold coins — mostly just in boxes of watch parts.
